New e-ELCA module on NIV and MND

End of Life Care for All (e-ELCA) has launched a new learning module on non-invasive ventilation (NIV) and MND. For more information visit the e-Learning for Healthcare website (login with your OpenAthens account to access courses).

Edinburgh Cognitive and Behavioural ALS Screen (ECAS) has been launched

The ECAS is a brief multidomain assessment originally designed for people with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS/Motor Neurone Disease) but is also useful in other neurodegenerative disorders. It makes cognitive assessment fast and accessible and can be undertaken by a health care professional in the clinic or in a patient’s home.

Relaunched audit tool endorsed by NICE

The Association’s audit tool ‘Transforming MND Care’ has been re-launched following a review and is now endorsed by the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE). It is a simple to use audit tool which supports the implementation of recommendations in the NICE guideline on MND (NG42).

The National End of Life Care Intelligence Network (NEoLCIN) End of Life Care Profiles have had a data update for February 2018.

There is also published a Statistical commentary. New mortality data for 2016 has been added to the End of Life Care Profiles for local authorities.
